Iraqi Police, U.S. Special Operations Forces Detain Two Suspected Terrorists in Ramadi

BALAD (Courtesy of CJSOTF-AP Public Affairs, Dec. 25, 2007) – Iraqi Police, advised by U.S. Special Operations Forces, detained two suspected terrorists in operations Dec. 23 and 24 in the city of Ramadi.

Intelligence reports indicate the suspects are linked to Al Qaeda in Iraq and are tied to the May 12th abduction of three U.S. Soldiers following an ambush attack near Mahmoudiyah.  Reporting indicates one of the suspects facilitated the kidnapping and is directly connected to the hiding and transport of the captured Soldiers.  The Soldiers are believed to have been held at the suspect’s residence after their capture.
 
The suspects are also allegedly responsible for improvised explosive device and mortar attacks against Iraqi and Coalition Forces as well as the kidnapping and murder of Iraqi citizens and members of the Iraqi Security Forces.
